ALMOST CRASHED
After almost 2 months of sailing to reach Colombia, we had just one last stop to make before crossing the border.
And guess what ?
yes, once again, we arrived by night, a mistake because if you don’t see nothing you dont know were you can “park” de boat.
So we dropped the anchor in this wild bay, Puerto Obaldia, where we noticed that it was just us and another boat. Then we went on land see the village for a bit, came back and we collapsed and fell asleep.
During the night, strong currents suddenly intensified,
PACHAMAMA was mad ? Who knows ?
And... Unfortunately, our anchor couldn't take the pressure and riped out, leaving Calypso drifting like piece of wood during our sleep.
Then suddenly, around 6 in the morning...
BOOOM... the boat hit the sand hard, waking us up, it felt like an eartquake.
We had to react quickly and, do something.
We realised that we were in danger and also close to lose the boat, so we activated survival mode (adrenaline).
We didn't even have open the eyes the battle against the waves and currents began in our boxer shorts.
The boat was moving from left to right, according to the waves, and many objects were tumbling into the water.
2/3 locals came into the water to try to help us.
Then 10, then 30... At the end, it was almost one hundred people, the all village, the all military camp were there for helping us get the boat out of the sand. It took us 5 hours to do it.
Thanks to them, and our physical effort and perseverance we manage to save our floating house,
sexy Calypso.
